How To Convert Old Photos To Digital Tube. Duration : 2.12 Mins.
Buying a digital camera doesn't mean your old prints, slides, or negatives are obsolete. You can easily convert them with a scanner to bring them into the 21st century. To complete this how-to, you will need: Photos, slides, or negatives A computer A flatbed scanner with attachments for slides and negatives A soft photography or makeup brush A lint-free cloth Isopropyl alcohol Photo editing software Step 1: Organize your photos Before scanning, organize your photos -- and slides and negatives, if you have them -- into logical groups. This will make renaming and labeling them much easier later on. Step 2: Clean your photos Using a soft photography or makeup brush, gently clean your photos. Any dirt or smudges will be visible in your scans. Step 3: Clean the scanner Using isopropyl, or another cleaning agent that won't leave residue or streaks, and a lint-free cloth, wipe any dust, smudges, and fingerprints off the scanner's glass bed. Turn on the scanner's light to reveal any overlooked smudges, fingerprints, or dirt. Step 4: Select your DPI based on your image use For images you intend to print, a DPI (or dots per inch) of 300 is recommended. Slides or negatives need a DPI of at least 2400. For use on the Web, a DPI of 72 is acceptable. Step 5: Scan your old photos Using the software that came with your scanner, scan each photo into your computer. Step 6: Rename your digital scans Your scans will likely have numerical names that tell you nothing about the content of the ...

Kodak 828 Film / Kodak Pony 828 Camera Video Clips. Duration : 13.50 Mins.
Segment from The Film Photography Podcast (Internet Radio Show) Episode 28 - February 15, 2011 Introduced in 1935 (and discontinued in 1985), The 828 film format uses the same basic film stock as 135 film (standard 35mm film), but is on a spool with backing paper (similar to the style of 120 film. The standard image format is 40 × 28 mm which provides a 30% larger image compared to 35mm's standard 24 × 36 mm. The Kodak Pony 828 camera was made from 1949 until 1959. It featured a retractable lens mount with a four speed Flash 200 shutter and Anaston 51 mm f/4.5 triplet lens. The body was made of Bakelite, which was a very common camera body material at that time and while the initial version of this camera used 828 film. Shooting with vintage cameras like the Kodak Pony is fun and will produce amazing images. Today, expired 828 film can be acquired on e-bay and new 35mm film can be rolled onto an 828 spool with backing paper. Launched in October of 2009, the Film Photography Podcast is a 90 minute, bi-weekly Internet radio program, exploring a wide range of topics relevant to the experienced and aspiring photographer using film as a medium. Hosts Michael Raso and Duane Polcou enthusiastically dissect and debate the pros-and-cons of film formats, do-it-yourself techniques, digital technologies, and vintage and contemporary cameras and accessories in a thorough, informative and casual manner. Regular features include Camera tests and reviews, "book of the month", interviews ...

Nikon D7000 Moonlight Video Test Video Clips. Duration : 0.93 Mins.
This is a test of the Nikon D7000 camera capturing video under moonlight. I used a Nikkor 35mm f1.8 lens @ f1.8 with ISO 3200. Timecode was added in Adobe After Effects. Obviously, YouTube's compression contributes to the quality of the video seen here. I may try using some noise reduction in After Effects but I'm pretty happy with the results straight from the camera. This was a difficult test. There was no ambient light other than the moonlight, and of course the lighthouse. After doing several experiments, I used some custom settings in the camera. Under the Picture Control settings, I used Contrast -3, Brightness +1, Saturation -3, and Hue +3. I used a manual color balance of 3700K.
